O’s Notes: Boston based trombonist Brian Thomas has been igniting the contemporary jazz scene in New England for over 20 years with a funky, R&B sound that packs a punch. He released his solo debut late last year with a close group of musicians he calls the BT Allstars. Five of the six tunes are originals with threads of James Brown, The Crusaders, and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. It’s the stuff that will get you bobbin’ your head! Highlights are “Bacudi Blues”, “Check Your Intentions” and the title track.
