O’s Notes: Dharma Down is a jazz-fusion quartet with Duncan Hardy (sax, qanun), Mike Effenberger (p), Scott Kiefner (b), and John Mettam (d). They drew on a wide range of influences with ten original songs and a cover of a classic Arabic tune. We liked the cool vibe on “Ex One Blues”, “Among The Reeds”, the warm “Michel”, and the tranquil “Thoughts and Prayers”. Owl Dreams is an impressive debut!
