O’s Notes: This family trio consists of drummer Billy Drummond, his wife, pianist Renee Rosnes and Ray Drummond on bass. They open with “You and The Night and The Music” and from the first beats you know this one is special. They gel as a band, allowing Renee to handle the melodies while maintaining a solid foundation in the lower registers. But both Ray and Billy come to the forefront from time to time with well-developed solos that have substance and feeling. These feelings extend throughout the set – nine newly arranged popular standards, all songs that you’ll love. The pace is both energetic and romantic ending with the ballad “Haunted Heart”.
