O’s Notes: Piano lovers are in for a treat as two of today’s top jazz pianists Eric Reed and Cyrus Chestnut share the stage at Dizzy’s in New York. Desron Douglas (b) and Willie Jones III (d) anchor the rhythm section. They swing through seven lengthy compositions including two originals notably the closing title track. The interaction between Reed and Chestnut is unselfish and confident. They bounce along on “All The Things You Are” and “Two Bass Hit” featuring Desron and Willie with dynamic solos. Each of them also takes one tune alone. We appreciated Chestnut on “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, a reflective piece at the core of this energetic set.
