O’s Notes: South African pianist, composer and producer Bokani Dyer strikes a resounding groove on Radio Sechaba, his latest release. There’s great vocal, and instrumental harmony on this recording, from start to finish. They get funky with “Move On”, followed by “State of the Nation” with spoken word by Damani Nkosi. We were soothed by “Picturesque” featuring trumpeter and pianist. There’s a taste of calypso on “Resonance of Truth” before they dial it back on “You Are Home”, before the spiritual “Medu” featuring Sthembiso Bhengu (t) to wrap a warm session, a reflection of South Africa today.
