O’s Notes: A local saxophonist inspired Nasser when he was a child growing up in New Bedford, MA. He went on to study economics and philosophy at Harvard. Before graduating, he was again inspired by a musician, pianist Hank Jones. The latter was pivotal and led to a career change to music and another degree from Berklee! All the while Nasser was gigging and developing his chops. Restive Soul is his debut recording with mostly original music that ranges from darker ballads to bouncy mid-tempo tunes. Both are well suited for his well-developed solos. Guitarist Jeff Miles shines on many occasions, as does pianist Dov Manski. We are sure there is more to come from this promising young talent.
