O’s Notes: Composer, arranger, bandleader Eric Person plays sax on his latest release Rhythm Edge. His band includes pianist Jerod Kashkin, Ingrid Jensen (t), Robin Eubanks (tb), and Daniel Sadownick (congas, perc). They swing on “The Multitudes” and continue pushing Person’s upbeat repertoire before relaxing with “Beauty”, accelerating on “Reach” then picking up the pace on the title track. We also enjoyed “It’s Time Again”, “Pretty Strange Love”, and relaxing on “Sunset”. This is an engaging set with a wealth of good music across many tempos.
