O’s Notes: John Escreet plays keyboards, composed, arranged and produced all of the music on Sabotage and Celebration. He assembled a stellar cast to perform his music including Chris Potter (ts), David Binney (as, ss), Matt Brewer (b) and Jim Black (d). We are greeted with a rich string section on the opener “Axis of Hope” before stepping into the rousing “He Who Dares”. The sound is orchestral with a solid punch. The title track is mysterious, daring, edgy and a bit chaotic; the outcast in a sizzling set.
