O’s Notes: Steve (b) grew up in Missouri listening to jazz and blues. Doug Webb joins him on sax, guitarist Steve Cotter and drummer Jason Harnell with Joe Bagg handling the keys and B3. They establish a mellow mood right from the start with “Waiting for Relief”. The music includes blues and several ballads on top of a mild fusion foundation. Some good examples are “Scoop”, “Closing My Eyes, I’m With You” and “Susan” (dedicated to his wife). Doug & Steve do a fine job leading the melodies as well as on solos. The best of the lot is “Noir” with mild hints of bossa nova.
