O’s Notes: Paul Moran is an incredible musician and entertainer. He plays the Hammond B3, trumpet, flugelhorn and leads two distinct ensembles for Smokin’ B3, his latest release. Despite the emphasis on organ, there is ample opportunity for the other band members to solo and they are all up to the challenge. The songs are fresh arrangements of popular jazz classics. We enjoyed “Have You Seen Her” spotlighting guitarist Jim Mullen, “Ruby Blues” with a strong solo by Laurence Cottle on bass. This is a balanced set that will leave you satisfied.
