O’s Notes: Mikko Innanen (reeds, whistles and effects) leads a free jazz trio with bassist William Parker and Andrew Cyrille on drums. Song For A New Decade is a two-disc set divided between music for the future on CD1, and music for today on CD2. We preferred the second disc; a live studio recording that has more vibrant exchanges especially on “Song 1”. All of the music is original and these guys thrive on spontaneity. They make no compromise in their approach and the genre. It’s pure pleasure for fans of Avant Garde.
