O’s Notes: Drummer Gerry Hemingway wrote and arranged these 12 songs focused on creating a new enjoyable groove. The music is funky with solid bass lines from Kermit Driscoll and tight beats from Gerry. It gets a modern, spacey feel with the use of samplers and synthesizers. Brass leads and vocals from Lisa Sokolov are woven into the fabric in intriguing ways. She harmonizes multiple tracks into “Hall of Mirrors” as they relax the pace with a popular ballad. But the best are the upbeat numbers like “Thump It”.
