O’s Notes: Contemporary jazz pianist Hiromi leads her new band Sonicwonder with a sizzling rhythm section including bassist Hadrien Feraud and drummer Gene Coye. Trumpeter Adam O’Farrill adds crisp melodies to make Sonicwonderland pop, especially on “Wanted”. Hiromi uses electronic keyboards to impart a bubbly funky sound on the title tracks and across the nine original selections. Oil Rockberger sings on “Reminiscence”, the sole vocal track. Our favorites are the funky “Go Go”, “Utopia”, and “Up”. The Japanese keyboardist continues to reinvent herself and push the envelope.
