O’s Notes: Cheryl’s voice is soft rich and warm, having graced the Manhattan Transfer for many years. Talk of the Town is a solo vocal effort and perhaps her best yet! She shines singing jovial standards like the title track and “Little Butterfly”. She also joins with Mark Kibble and Alvin Chea of Take 6 on “Girl Talk” to re-emphasize her ability to harmonize in a group setting. It’s first class! Cheryl also enlists the support of John Patitucci (b), Kenny Barron (p), Lewis Nash (d), Chuck Mangione (flugelhorn) and David “Fathead” Newman (sax) to cast a halo around this session.
