O’s Notes: James is a baritone crooner and actor with dozens of stage plays and TV shows in his dossier. His music pops and his lyrics are perfect every step of the way, upbeat and on time. The band is a trio with Eddie Olivieri (p), Jack LeCompte (d) and Michael Saucier or Kevin O’Neal splitting duty on bass. Tender and Blue is a collection of jazz ballads and blues. You can appreciate Geralden’s stage experience as he strolls through “The Comeback” and his sense of soul on “Afro Blue”. There’s no gymnastics here; James is just gets it done.
