O’s Notes: Moy Eng is a poet, songwriter and vocalist who teams up with veteran composer, arranger and trombonist Wayne Wallace to produce The Blue Hour, a set of ten original songs. Eng’s silky, soulful voice is well integrated with Wayne’s arrangements and orchestration of 21 musicians including Akira Tana (d). Marc van Wageningen (b), Michael Spiro (congas), and Mary Fettig (a-sax). The resulting jazzy, R&B performance is fresh, insightful and worthy of repeated listening. The booklet and liner notes are also first class accentuating the CD.
