O’s Notes: The core members of Tritone are Philip Topping (t), Andy Waddell (g), Peter Sepsis (b), Ian Vo (t-sax), Mitch Forman (keyboards) and Dave Johnstone (d). They share many jazz fusion inspirations that lead to their retro, fusion sound. They open with the festive, Latin flavors of “Grasshopper” before settling into the predominant jazz-fusion. There are African chants on top of funky beats for “Malawi” and cool beats on the live recording of “Simple” featuring Vo.
