O’s Notes: The Trio Book is an engaging encounter with bassist Clark Sommers, drummer Dana Hall and tenor saxophonist Chris Madsen leading the charge. Their sound is crisp, clean and melodic on the opener “Elderdown”, mellow on “Amethyst Secrets”, and swings on “West Coast Blues”, indicative of the entire set, mostly covers with one original.
