O’s Notes: Kermit was an original member of the Rebirth Brass Band. He left on his during a time when he wanted to focus more on his family. After over 10 years they come back together in a seamless effort. Throwback combines the marching New Orleans jazz groove with James Brown’s funky soul, blues and R&B. The band is all brass plus bass and snare drummers, led by Kermit on trumpet and Phil Frazier on tuba. These guys are having fun for sure. Check out “Mardi Gra Day” if you have any doubt! When these guys perform live it’s electric. A lot of that spirit is on this CD. The hip-hop crowd should be on alert for “Up in tha Hood” with its fierce beats and rap. All aboard!
