O’s Notes: German guitarist, composer Philip Weberndoerfer is now based in New York where he recorded Tides, his latest release. The program is all originals except for a couple of covers, notably Bobby Hutcherson’s “Little B’s Poem”. Weberndoerfer is accompanied by Richard Mikel (b), Peter Traunmueller (d), and saxophonist Dayna Stephens on five of the nine selections. “Low Gravity”, “The Gypsy”, and peaceful selections like “My Ideal” are highlights.
