O’s Notes: This is a sessions of 100% covers done right. The featured vocalist is Sandra Marlowe who has a strong, warm, rich and inviting voice. Behind her is a tight rhythm section consisting of Larry Dunlap (p), John Shifflett (b) and Jason Lewis (d). Jeff Cressman (tb), Charlie McCarthy (sax, fl) and John Worley (t, flugelhorn) add brass accents in all the right places. The song selection is great and Dunlap’s arrangements freshens them up a bit but not beyond recognition. Highlights are plentiful making True Blue easy to sit back and enjoy!
