O’s Notes: Jazz bassist Robert Hurst takes the lead on Unrehurst, a trio recoding with Robert Gasper (p) and Chris Dave (d). It is a live impromptu session captured live at Smoke in New York City during 2007. They play five selections including two originals. There is a prevailing sense of swing that keeps things moving. We enjoyed “Monk’s Dream” and “Bob’s Blues” with a fine opening solo by Hurst. It is a good effort especially on the first take.
