O’s Notes: L’s unique form of fusion uses mild, funky beats as a foundation for his guitar work. His band is Art Lande (p), Paul McCandless (sax) and Jamey Haddad (d, perc). The pace varies from upbeat to mid-tempo tunes like Totsu! When they slow down, as on “Butterfly Dream” and “Bee”, it is rather soothing. The title track “Walking On The Tiger’s Tail” has a mysterious feel with L’s liquid guitar leading the melodies. These reflective compositions helped L transition through a tough time in his life.
