O’s Notes: Warmdaddy is cooking on most of his latest release. He is supported by a strong rhythm section including Roland Guerin (b), Mark Gully (d), Lawrence Sieberth (p) and Briana Guerin (p). Their groove works best on songs like “I’ll Forget May” a cool Latin number and the swinging “Monk By Starlight”. Anderson takes creative liberties with many of his solos that venture into free space to start the title track before settling into a cool bop rhythm. We especially liked his work on “Warmfreeze”. Warmdaddy proves that traditional jazz is still vibrant.
