O’s Notes: Guitarist, composer Matt Panayides presents his first trio album, With Eyes Closed with bassist Steve LaSpina and Anthony Pinicotti on drums. They focus on reimagined standards, eleven in total that give the musicians, especially Panayides, space to improvise. They explode on Chick Corea’s “Straight Up And Down”, balanced by more relaxed takes on “I Fall In Love Too Easily”. Other highlights are “Simone” and “Serenity”.
