O’s Notes: Chick and Gary have been working together for over 35 years starting at a jazz festival in Germany. The success of that collaboration led to Crystal Silence in 1972 and several more albums and numerous concerts since. Most recently they’ve been touring the globe together as a duo, Chick in piano and Gary on vibes. This 2-disc set captures a unique performance with the Sydney Orchestra and their more typical performance together at the Molde Jazz Festival in Norway. The first is a very dynamic performance fitting for the opera house. Tim Garland arranged these five Corea compositions that will appease the classical pallet. The second CD is really happening with an extended series of tradeoffs between two masters that is pure bliss. Check “Sweet And Lovely” for a prime example.
