O’s Notes: This 1977 performance at Monterey is electrifying. The late Tito Puente (2000) was one of the most dynamic Latin vibraphonist/percussionist and bandleader. They play ten selection delighting the audience Among the best are “Oye Como Va” where the crowd immediately assumed the lead vocal role; “Delirio”, a beautiful ballad; and “Picadillo” with guest Cal Tjader on vibes. The recording captures the width of the stage where Tito led his large ensemble. This is a great testimony to his works!
