O’s Notes: Chie is a Denver based composer, arranger and producer. She expresses her thoughts through these modern jazz instrumentals. As we read through the liner notes we related to the emotional sentiments intended on each selection. There is a welcoming warmth in “My Heartfelt Gratitude”; edginess bordering on chaos on “Information Overload” with a guest appearance from Michael Brecker (t), and peaceful reflection on “Fear of the Unknown” featuring bassist John Clayton as Imaizumi encourages us to embrace all of our emotions to enable true happiness. Along the way we experience some exceptional musicianship. Trumpeters Greg Gisbert and Terell Stafford match wits on “Run For Your Life” and Steve Davis steps up on “Many Happy Days Ahead”. The net result is a very good album that is accessible to a broad audience.
