O’s Notes: René is a fine jazz singer on the straight ahead side of our Jazz Ruler For this recording she pays homage to her country with songs that range from jazz to rock, pop and also some traditional songs. The band is a trio with Kevin Bales (p), Rodney Jordan (b) and Quentin Baxter (d). This is music to enjoy, to listen to in reflection and to appreciate. Of note are the imagination suite and the title suite, a true tribute to America. Marie’s vocalizations are beautiful and make the session special.
