O’s Notes: Amit plays sax and leads a swinging core sextet through a set of fresh original music. The vibe is mostly modern jazz with some elements of contemporary classical music imparted by the strings. There is a little calypso in “Optimism”; they swing hard on “Or”; and show a penchant for peace as they mellow out on “Bolero” led by Friedman with a strong solos from bassist Gilad Abro and pianist Omri Mor. They play the title track as an instrumental and then a vocal track featuring Tamar Eisenman. All the way through they swing leading to a rewarding encounter.
