O’s Notes: Pianist and singer Ari Shagal leads a contemporary smooth jazz band playing his music. Vocalists Ferima Faye, Kenny Washington and Matthew Lomeo join him. Guitarist Joe Davi adds the edge and co produced the CD. The groove is reminiscent of Steely Dan with easy harmonized lyrics on top of catchy riffs. Highlights are “Why Couldn’t It Have Been Me”, “Through The Wringer” and “Shade-Walking”. The effect is pleasant, fresh and easy to enjoy.
