O’s Notes: Darrell Looney plays electric violin and leads the charge on Phat Jazz. It is a collection of eleven mid-tempo songs, all with a strong dose of retro funk circa 1970s. “Kickin’ Back” and the title track were the ones that raised our pulse. “Low Ride” is the best of the set. The rest faded into passing thoughts.
