O’s Notes: Turkish-born jazz vocalist Melbreeze now resides in Los Angeles where she transforms the American songbook to her likeness. She takes a liberal approach improvising jazz classics with arrangements that range from a bluesy take on “My Funny Valentine” to punked out takes of “Dat Dere”. “Sentimental Journey”, “What Lola Wants” and “Yesterdays“ are among the best. It’s a hit or miss engagement that should be applauded for the creative improvisation.
