O’s Notes: Eight months after his last live performance, alto saxophonist Jim Snidero had a lot of pent-up emotion to express. He performs live with his quartet at The Deer Head Inn during the Fall of 2020 with the challenges of the pandemic. Orrin Evans (p), Peter Washington (b) and Joe Farnsworth (d) round out the all/star band. Jim’s sax is warm and compassionate on “Ol’ Man River”, part of a tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement. He’s seductive on “My Old Flame”, dedicated to Charlie Parker who would’ve eclipsed 100 a couple of months earlier. His daughter Kim Parker expressed exuberant appreciation from the audience! Old and new tunes swing with this team in a satisfying way, so if you see Snidero and company on the marquee, buy a ticket!
