O’s Notes: The pandemic spawned creativity beyond our wildest imagination and The Quarantine Sessions were a bright spot, born with singer, guitarist, composer and activist Chava Mirel. She invited several like-minded musicians to form a sextet for this energetic live session. Marina Albero, Hans Teuber, Jeff Busch, Dean Schmidt, and Jerome Smith were all up to the challenge. There’s a New Orleans swagger on parts of this recording courtesy of the instrumentation and marching beats that are pronounced on “No Mon At All” and “Summer Pudding”. Elsewhere, they swing and dance to Mirel’s vocals.
