O’s Notes: Reeds master Thomas Backman plays sax, flute, clarinet, synthesizers, and leads a diverse band with Josefine Lindstrand (vocals, p), Cecilia Linné (cello), David Lindvall (b, synths, g), Martin Ohman (d, electronics), Tomas Ebrelius (violin, viola), Magnus Wikland (tb), and a vocal quartet. This is an intriguing session ranging from the reflective “State Of day” to the aggressive “I Shall But Drink The More” featuring rapper Eze Jackson and Lindstrand. We also liked “Threads”, and free jazz on “Scherzo Demoniaco”.
