O’s Notes: The headliners are Peter Anderson (t-sax, cl) and Will Anderson (a-sax, cl). Wycliffe Gordon (tb), Rossano Sportiello (p), Neal Miner (b), and Chuck Redd (b) round out a fine band. They focus on The Best Of (Irving) Berlin with styles starting in the roaring twenties and approaching bebop in the 1950s. There are sweet harmonies and warm tones sprinkled throughout the album. If you dig the American songbook, this one is right up your alley! Our favorites are “Putting On The Ritz”, “How Deep Is The Ocean”, and “They Say It’s Wonderful”.
