O’s Notes: Japanese pianist, composer Michika Fukumori leads a potent trio with bassist Steve Whipple and drummer Adam Nussbaum. Seven of the eleven songs are originals ranging from soft ballads like “The Light of Dawn” and the title track to pleasing upbeat tunes like “Acaso”. They swing on the classic covers of “Jitterbug Waltz”, and “Speak Low” going around the horn with solos on the latter.
