O’s Notes: The free flowing spirits of Brazil transcend across this session featuring guitarist and singer Fernando Holz. He wrote the music and lyrics alone or with music director/producer Zeca Barros for all of the songs on the CD. This is noteworthy at a time when many artists are content rearranging standards. The rhythm section includes guitarist Romero Lubambo and drummer/percussionist Paulo Braga along with Rebecca Cline (p), Jose Pienasola (b) and a rich string section that complements many of the ballads. We particularly liked “Diáspora Brasileira” and “Aprendiz”.
