O’s Notes: Chris is a Kansas City native who played violin and clarinet as a child. But her professional career started in the late 1940s as a vocalist in front of a big band. She achieved notoriety with Stan Kenton’s band in the mid-1950s. She performs here with a small band and her voice rings through clearly. There are a dozen enjoyable classics.
