O’s Notes: Yes, sax man Lee Konitz is still playing! He was 73 when this recording was made and he seems to gets mellower with time. Lee is focused on maximum efficiency: conveying the most feeling out of each note. He plays along with a large, brass rich ensemble. The seven tunes were written all or in part by Lee except “Lover Man” and arranged by Mark Masters. All are well-developed and over 7 minutes long allowing ample soloing opportunities. It’s a sampling of Konitz that is like a warm sunset.
