O’s Notes: Guest vocalist Elisabeth Lohninger opens “The Welcome Song” warming the crowd with a ballad in front of Woodruff’s sextet. She’s back on “A Centering Piece” and finishes the set with “King Sized Blues”. Elsewhere Michael Rodriguez (t), Lisa Parrott (sax) and Alan Ferber (tb) shine with rich brass combinations. Guitarist Pete McCann adds a fusion elements on “War Paint” and “Undertow” expanding the diversity of Woodruff’s compositions on A Centering Peace.
