O’s Notes: This is a large ensemble featuring arranger, producer, Danny Jonokuchi on trumpet. His tone is warm, rich on the instrumental version of “Skylark”. Danny also sings a couple of vocals: the bonus take of “Skylark”, and “This Can’t Be Love”. But the orchestra dominates the landscape with grand splendor. Terrell Stafford (t) shines on “Red Top”, John Beshay (t-sax) swings on “Ping Pong”, and Chris Oats (a-sax) solos on “Lady Bird”.
