O’s Notes: Trumpeter Dennis Gonzalez leads a quartet with Curtis Clark (p), Reggie Workman (b) and Michael T.A. Thompson (d). They embark on a spirited adventure into free space. The title is a good descriptor of the action that parallels a battle scene at times. The sound effects are excellent with a dynamic presentation that engulfs the listener. Workman opens “Arbyrd Lumenal” with a cool solo, as does Thompson on “Fuzzy’s Adventure”, a solo interlude. They come together best on the title track, as each of them improvises around a common theme. It gets a little hectic on “Anthem for the Moment” and on the racy finale but this is collectively a very creative work amidst the chaos!
