O’s Notes: Pianist David Budway leads a talented band with bassist Eric Revis and Jeff “Tain” Watts on drums. The pace is mostly blistering through the do settle down for a few songs. Branford Marsalis plays soprano sax on “Lonely Cane”, a warm ballad. Marcus Strickland (sax) plays on three tracks including the exotic “Sama’i Shat Arabud”. Budway does his thing on the covers of “Strike Up the Band” and “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To”. He wrote 7 of the 11 songs notably “Maintain Speed Through Tunnel” and produced the album as well, an intriguing set.
