O’s Notes: Brasuka is a Brazilian sextet with instrumentals and vocals sung in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. We’re bathed in cool bossa nova beats, with Brazilian stories, reminiscing about good times on the beach, and even including a taste of reggae on the title track. Vocalist Rosana Eckert softens the mood on “Reina’s Song” complimented with fine work from Tom Burchill on guitar. Thoughtful solos are plentiful on A Vida Com Paixao including contributions from Brian Warthen (b) & Daniel Pardo (fl) on “La Higuera”, and Jeff Robbins (t-sax) on “Samba Jiji”.
