O’s Notes: We hadn’t heard of Muhledy prior to this CD, a live recording at Cellar Jazz in Vancouver. Like most of the music emanating from that club, this is top notch. The quartet is composed of pianist Jordan Baskin, drummer Morgan Childs, bassist Sean Cronin and Chris Gale on sax. Most of the tunes swing hard like “Blue House” and the title track but there also cool songs like “Fennel”, a more syncopated tune written by and featuring Gale. Each of the musicians contributes compositions to the session keeping it a fresh. We liked Sean’s bass solo on “Waiting” and the entire package on the finale, “McGill House Rag”.
