O’s Notes: Pianist Ezra Weiss arranged a jazz musical based on Alice in Wonderland. Director Sarah Jane Hardy wrote the script based on Lewis Carroll’s book. Annabel Cantor plays Alice. Marilyn Keller and Shirley Nanette are featured Queen of Hearts. They provide soulful vocals on several tracks notably both takes of “Three Little Sisters” and the bonus take of “Finale”. The band plays jazzy background music based on classic jazz pieces. We particularly enjoyed “The Craziest Cat in Town” and “Off With His Head”. This blend of jazz with a storybook tale is an enjoyable session for children and adults alike.
