O’s Notes: Drummer Josh Feldstein leads The Verve Jazz Ensemble (VJE), seven members who perform in six different configurations from a trio to the all-in septet. They are a high energy band! We liked the layered brass on “The Odd Couple”, the lazy ballad “Pensive Mess”, the subtle bossa nova on “Once I Loved”, and the sax/trumpet cat and mouse melody on “What I Meant to Say Was” featuring Jon Blanck (t-sax) and Tatum Greenblatt (t).
