O’s Notes: Drummer Todd Zimberg makes his debut as a leader in a trio with pianist Michael Gotz and bassist Perry Thoorsell on An Afternoon In Sellwood. (Sellwood-Moreland is a neighborhood overlooking the Willamette River in Southeast Portland, Oregon). This is a vinyl-length, 31-minute recording with concise solos across the board. Gotz’s rather vibrant piano makes this set pop, especially on “Alone Together”.
